"BEETLE
JUICE"
Competition is the name of the game. Exhibiting
rabbits to be judged against other breeders' rabbits is what shows are all
about. Winning a class, winning a
breed and wining a show are difficult tasks for breeders' young and old.
Striving to raise, breed and exhibit champion bunnies is more difficult
than some people understand.
First time exhibitors may be shocked by the critique of their beautiful rabbit.
Many new people are discouraged by the negative or poor judgment of their
rabbits. Some rabbits may win on their first exposure to a rabbit
show. Some bunnies may never win.
It is the responsibility of the novice exhibitors to improve their bunny
entries to the level of competition. Some
breeders have been showing rabbits for many, many years.
These exhibitors know how much work goes into presenting champion quality
animals at any show they may attend.
Long-time, experienced exhibitors can also feel mistreated at
the show tables. Showing a rabbit
that may have several winning legs (the term for a win when you have at least 5
rabbits in a class and a minimum of 3 exhibitors) and watching it be the first
rabbit off of the judging table. This
can hurt the feelings of the breeder and the rabbit.
Each judge has their own opinion of each rabbit and their own
interpretation of the ARBA Standard for that breed. There are many great judges in the ARBA.
Some seem to prefer one breed over another when choosing the Best In Show
rabbits. Some judges know more
about one breed than another. All
judges are people just like you and can make mistakes while judging rabbits.
Experienced breeders know that they will not win at every
show they may attend. The most
important thing for us to remember when exhibiting animals is to have fun.
Let us know if we can help you and your bunnies compete at any rabbit
show.
Good luck, BUNNYRABBIT.com
