To clean or repair waterbottle valves, place the bottle in warm (not hot) water for a couple minutes, then use a pair of pliers to grip the valve and wiggle it out of the bottle. Take the valve apart using the hex tool, clean with vinegar water (1 Tbsp vinegar/1 cup water) then rinse with plain water, put it back together and install back in the bottle. Put the bottle in warm water again and you should be able to put the valve back in with just your fingers & wiggling.
